Cookie Policy
Which cookies this website uses, and how to change your preferences.
Effective date: 17 September 2026 · Applies to icsa.ngo
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies (such as local storage) do the same job. They let a site remember your settings, keep it secure, and — only with your permission — measure how it is used.
2. How we use them
icsa.ngo uses as few cookies as possible. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share browsing data. At present the site sets no optional cookies: nothing is stored on your device for analytics or marketing. Cookies fall into three groups:
Strictly necessary
Always on. Needed for the site to work and to remember the choice you make in the cookie banner.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Cookie-consent preference | Set only if we introduce optional cookies; records whether you accepted or declined them | 12 months |
| WordPress session cookies (wordpress_*, wp-settings-*) | Only set for editors who sign in to manage the site | Session / up to 1 year |
| Security and load-balancing cookies from our host | Protect the site from abuse and keep it available | Session |
Analytics (optional)
Not currently in use. If we introduce analytics to understand which pages and publications are used most, a consent banner will appear first and analytics cookies will stay off until you accept them. IP addresses will be anonymised and reports aggregated, and you will be able to change your choice at any time from a cookie settings link in the footer.
Embedded content (third parties)
Some pages embed content from other services. Those services may set their own cookies when the embed loads:
- Microsoft Power BI — the ICSA Dashboard. Microsoft’s cookies support the report viewer and Microsoft’s own security. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.
- Video players (for example YouTube) — used in the Media Centre and Voices from the Frontline when a film is embedded. Where possible we use privacy-enhanced embeds that set cookies only after you press play.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. This does not set cookies, but your browser sends a standard request (including your IP address) to Google to fetch the font files.
3. Managing cookies
Because we set no optional cookies today, there is nothing to accept or decline. If that changes, you will see a banner on your first visit and a cookie settings link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, although the dashboard and embedded videos may not display.
4. Changes
We will update this page if the cookies we use change, and adjust the effective date above.
