On 27 July 2026 the ICSA LHAAT committee in Rogo Local Government Area, Kano State, made a supportive supervision visit to the primary health centre in Jajaye Ward. The aim was to assess the quality of care, the condition of the facility and the challenges staff face, and to make recommendations.
Who was in the room
The committee spoke with the health workers, community elders and leaders, the youth leader and a representative of persons with disabilities. It looked at environmental sanitation, the availability of drugs and equipment, staff attendance and the quality of patient care.
What it found
The committee commended the dedication of the health workers, who are keeping the facility running with only three staff. It recorded six challenges: inadequate staff; too few beds in both the male and female wards; inadequate laboratory equipment; inadequate maternity delivery kits; no office furniture; and no waiting area for antenatal mothers and caregivers bringing children for immunisation.
Recommendations were made to the relevant stakeholders, and the committee reaffirmed its commitment to regular supportive supervision visits as its contribution to strengthening the primary health care system in Rogo.
Based on the supportive supervision visit report prepared by Ahmad Hafizu Ahmad, Secretary, ICSA LHAAT Committee, Rogo LGA (27 July 2026).
