Dala LHAART resolves to write to the LGA Chairman on two health facilities

The Local Health Advocacy and Accountability Team (LHAART) in Dala Local Government Area, Kano State, held its monthly meeting on 25 August 2026 to review observations from recent facility visits and agree on advocacy actions.

What members found

At Kofar Mazugal Health Facility, the security guard has no room or shelter, which matters most in the rainy season, and an open passage between the maternity unit and the main facility is used by passers-by in ways that compromise the cleanliness and dignity of the facility and the comfort of maternity patients. At Madigawa Health Facility, the maternity ward is extremely small and holds only one bed, which limits privacy and the facility’s ability to admit more than one woman at a time.

What the team decided

Members unanimously resolved to draft a formal advocacy letter to the Executive Chairman of Dala Local Government Area asking for a dedicated room or shelter for the security guard at Kofar Mazugal, for the passageway beside the maternity unit to be fenced, secured and monitored, and for the maternity unit at Madigawa to be expanded and equipped. The team will report the Chairman’s response at its next meeting.
