On 21 July 2026 members of the Local Health Accountability and Advocacy Team (LHAAT) in Soba Local Government Area, Kaduna State, visited the LGA Health Department to present findings from their routine monitoring of primary health centres. They met the Local Immunisation Officer and other officials.
Two problems, two assurances
The team raised a damaged vaccine refrigerator at one PHC, which puts the safe storage of vaccines and other temperature-sensitive commodities at risk, and a non-functional borehole at another facility, which leaves health workers, patients and caregivers without safe water on site.
The Health Department thanked the team for its evidence-based advocacy, acknowledged both issues and assured the team that steps would be taken to repair the refrigerator and rehabilitate the borehole. Officials also called for stronger mosquito spraying in communities as a complement to existing malaria control measures.
The LHAAT will check both facilities on its next monitoring round. The assurances are recorded as commitments, not completed repairs, until then.
