Where ICSA works in this state

Local Health Accountability and Advocacy Teams (LHAATs) have documented activity in seven local government areas of Kaduna State: Chikun, Igabi, Kaura, Lere, Soba, Zango Kataf and Zaria. Teams make supportive supervision visits to primary health centres, convene town hall meetings with communities and traditional leaders, and take their findings to local government health departments and councils.

In Zaria the LHAAT works with the Initiative for Integrated Governance and Economic Sustainability (IIGES) and the Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM); in Zango Kataf the implementing team is the Women of Vision Development Initiative.

A sick newborn can deteriorate in hours. Knowing the danger signs, and acting on them at the first facility or community contact, is one of the most powerful things a PHC worker can do.
